Default formatting w/mailmerge

I have an Excel Worksheet that I am merging into a Word document. The value
in Excel is formatted with 2 decimal places which is what we want in our Word
Document however, when we merge, we are seeing the value in expanded notation
with about 12 digits. How do I prevent this?

Typically,
a. use Alt-F9 to reveal the field codes. You should see something like
{ MERGEFIELD myamount }
or
{ MERGEFIELD myamount \*Mergeformat }

where "myamount" is the column name of your number.
b. delete \*Mergeformat if you see it, and type in a "numeric format
switch" so your field looks as follows:

{ MERGEFIELD myamount \#"0.00" }

If it is a currency amount, insert your currency symbol at the
beginning, e.g.

{ MERGEFIELD myamount \#"$0.00" }

If you need a thousands separator, do it like this:

{ MERGEFIELD myamount \#"$,0.00" }

In this case, $ is the currency sign, "," is the thousands separator set
up in regional options, and "." is the decimal point set up in regional
options. So substitute those values as necessary, or if it isn
