To typesetters, a "thin space" is 1/5 or 1/6 of an em space. Is it possible
to insert a thin space in Word 2003, and if so, how? |

You can find a 1/4 em space (Unicode character 2005) on the Special
Characters tab of Insert | Symbol. The "thin space" and "hair space" are Unicode characters 2009 and 200A. The "six-per-em space" is 2006. They can be found in Arial Unicode MS and Lucida Sans Unicode. -- Suzanne S. Hi Star,
insert, symbol, special characters, 1/4 Em space, ascw(8197), though this is not non-breaking. You may assign a shortcut to it. To get a non breaking 1/4 Em space, which adjusts to the surrounding text, you'd need a bit of VBA, IMHO. -- Greetings from Bavaria, Germany Helmut Weber, MVP WordVBA Win XP, Office 2003 "red.sys" & Chr$(64) & "t-online.de" |

Hi Suzanne,
maybe I should stay away from docmanagement, sigh. What is wrong with AscW(8197)? I used Times New Roman. If I insert a 1/4 em space, ascW(selection.text) tells me 8197. 8197[ctrl x] gives me some chinese sign. What is that? -- Greetings from Bavaria, Germany Helmut Weber, MVP WordVBA Win XP, Office 2003 "red.sys" & Chr$(64) & "t-online.de" |
