Formatting part of text
While working on a document originally created by someone else - when I
try to highlight and embolden (if there is such a word) one line, the whole document changes to bold - how do I confine my formatting to what I have highlighted? -- Jim S |

Well, it doesn't ordinarily happen. It's not clear what causes this, but

All I can say is that I've never seen it, and there are many, many other

An add-in is a "helper" application that adds functionality to programs such
as Word, and if the add-in is poorly written, as Suzanne wrote, strange things may occur. Since this is Word 2007, the problem *must* be an add-in, at least if the

From that description, the root of the problem is most likely your friend's
computer. (Once selected, the "Automatically update" option stays on until you turn it off.)
