G'Day Mememe

See:
http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/Overbar.htm
for an excellent discussion of achieving this using an
EQ field.
Although this particular discussion has a focus on creating (say)
an 'x' with a '¯' (bar) over the top - the method will work for
any pair of characters.
Should you be trying to create accented characters (Ã,ë,Ç,ñ,é etc),
then see:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/InsertSpecChars.htm read ALL
of it!

If, on the other hand, you are trying to get one character to _overprint_
another, click between the two. Then go to FormatFontCharacter Spacing,
choose Condensed from Spacing list and adjust the spacing value as necessary.

That is just what the EQ \o field does, and much more simply.
