When I embed another document in my word document, I select display as an
icon, change the icon to my preferred one. However, when the object appears
in my document, the icon is not there, just part of the caption. The objevt
is actually there - you can double click on it and open it but displaying
with the selected icon. However, if I print the document out, it displays
with the icon as it should. problem is this word document will be sent out
and probably not printed out. It looks like the embedded document is not
there without the icon. How can I make it appear.

Thanks stefan. I checked all of these things but the problem persists. The
paragraph spacing was set to an exact amount and I changed it but it made no
difference to the embedded object icon.

Paragraph spacing isn't relevant here, but *line spacing* might be. Did you
check the value for that too?

Can you reproduce this issue in any document, or does it occur with just
that one doc?

Hi Stefan - I've cracked it thanks. Although I had altered the line spacing
for the whole document, when I highlighted the embedded object and checked
again, it was still set at an exact amount. I changed each embedded object
individually and they all appeared ! Thanks very much. Jill

OK, then it was a line spacing issue after all. I'm glad you got it sorted,
and thank you for the feedback.
