Default Email mailmerge hangs?

Is there a trick to get an email mailmerge NOT to hang as soon as an email
comes into the mailbox?

Office 2007 SP1, repaired, diaged, uninstalled reinstalled it happens every
time???

Start Mail Merge = Email
Select Recipients = Outlook Contacts
Finish Merge = enter subject hit finnish

It starts pumping them out but as soon as Outlook recieves an email the
merge hangs? Google finds alot of people with the same problem but no
solutions that I can find.

I thought I found a common denominator but just send out 500+ while emails
where coming in without a hang? Did NOTHING any differently that the last 5
fives it did hang.
