Locked Subdocuments in Master Document
Hi everybody,
I need your help concerning the implementation of subdocuments in a master document. I have an existing file which is my master document. It is saved in the same folder with other documents which are foreseen to become subdocuments. Neither of the documents is read-only. This is also not the case for the folder. When I insert the existing documents as subdocuments, they all appear as being locked (I've done the insertion when none of the documents was open...). Maybe someone detect an error in my procedure or can suggest any measure to overcome this problem. Anyway, help is appreciated! Regards, Julia |

Locked Subdocuments in Master Document
Julia:
I recall a similar problem. It was because the author recorded in the subdocument was different from the author recorded in the master document. You can examine and edit these fields using File Properties. Unfortunately, all of my files are all generated by the same author - as reflected as well in the properties... Any further ideas? Cheers, Julia |

I'm pretty sure you can unlock them from the screen but it has to be one at a time. I think Word's Help did fairly well at describing it. |
