I have a document where the user has changed the Heading styles, and I want
it to return to the normal.dot styles, how do I do that?

I hope that question makes sense. Thank you for your help.

Try attaching (or reattaching) the document to your normal.dot.
Tools Templates and Addins...
Check the box to update styles from templates.
Click on OK

Then go back to the dialog and uncheck that box.

Thanks!

Now I need to know how to get the styles to "stay" as I set them. Or maybe
it's the numbering. I set the styles to use numbering I., A., 1., etc.,
with Heading 1, 2 & 3, respectively. Yet when someone else pulls up the
document their headings are labeled 1., 1.1., 1.1.1., etc. How do I fix it
so that all users pull up the headings the way I had set them up?

Thanks again for your help.

Unfortunately, numbering formats are stored in the Registry of each user's
machine. If you want a specific numbering scheme linked to your styles, you
need to follow the instructions in
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html for linking
the numbering to the styles.
