Here's the setup, then the problem.

Created a 5col x 6row table, removed all borders, applied shading, and set
the font in the top two rows to bold, white color. Then merged top 2 rows in
column 1; top 2 rows in column 5; top 2 rows in column 6; columns 2-3-4 in
row 1. Finally, applied left H/center V align to column 1, and center
H/center V align to all other cells.

After I finish the alignment, I now have interior borders between all the
merged columns in the top 2 rows only, and the color of the borders matches
the white/bold font. Tried this again, but aligning before merging, but stil
get the interior borders. They're visible both on screen and in the print
preview. The only anomaly I can see on screen is that borders seem to appear
after aligning cells, then disappear after I do a print preview.

Can anyone explain what's causing this and how to make it stop? Much, much
thanks if so. Using Word 2003, and XP. Thank you.
