Default Add-in cannot be enabled

My PDFMaker add-in cannot be re-enabled. I can see that it is disabled,
click it to enabled, but when I return to Word, the add in remains disabled.

How can I fix this.

Which Word version? Which Acrobat version?
Assuming Word 2003 or earlier and a compatible version of Acrobat then check
Word Help About Word Disabled items. See also
