Default First letter of a header 1 contains a hyperlink that cannot be use

Hi,

I am working on a document that where every occurrence of the Header 1
style I notice that I am unable to select the bullet or numbering options,
the first letter of the header contains a hyperlink that cannot be removed
and if I try to insert a page break before (via paragraph options)
approximately 30 or so blank pages are inserted and can be viewed in print
mode.

has anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it please?

Cheers

Phil
