Default Annoying Toolbars in Word

Frequently when opening document files in Word (XP/2002) - especially
attachments received by email - the reviewing toolbar opens itself without
any apparent reason. I find this extremely annoying!

Can anyone enlighten me as to why this might be happening (the documents in
question are not going through the review process), and whether there is a
way of stopping it (short of totally disabling/destroying the toolbar in
question). Perhaps there is a utility which helps to tame Word toolbars?

Thanks.

I can confirm this is a brilliant solution to the problem.

Also, presumably one can easily use the same technique to temporarily
disable the annoying appearance of the web toolbar when one clicks on a
hyperlink?
