Excel OLE in Word docs
I wasn't sure who would be better to answer this, so I have included both
sides. In a Win XP/Office 03 Word doc, I am trying to embedded (NOT LINK) a range of Excel 03 data. It is a 3x38 range. It takes what seems an extra long period of time for the OLE object to get into the Word doc, but then, I can't edit it. No matter how much a double click on it, pause, save first - whatever, it doesn't respond for editing. Since I'm trying to make this into an interactive template for real estate closings - this is a problem. Can anyone offer some insight? I don't see anything on OLE limitations. Thanks, -Monica |

Can you describe the exact commands you're using to insert the object, please. Do you have any third-party "management" software installed and running, such as an anti-virus checker? This could be disallowing the OLE link. Try booting Windows in Safe Mode and see if things work more as you'd expect. If they do, then start tracking down things that are loading on start up. Hi Cindy and thank you for responding.
The steps I am using (which typically have always worked for me) a 1. Select the range in Excel, use Ctrl+C to copy. 2. Alt+Tab to move back to my Word doc, use EditPaste SpecialPaste as Excel Object to paste. I'm on a Novell network with MS clients and yes, we have McAfee runnning in the background. I'm not sure I know how to start a Novell box in Safe Mode. I'll be honest, I don't think that is the problem, as I did a similar doc with a much larger Excel range a few weeks ago and it still allowed me to edit. But I'll try disabling the Virus Scan first. Thanks again, -Monica "Cindy M -WordMVP-" wrote in message news:VA.0000aefb.00de3187@speedy... Hi Mld, I wasn't sure who would be better to answer this, so I have included both sides. Thankyou all. I think the original files were corrupt in some way. I turned
off McAfee and that still did not work, then tried another set of data, which caused Word to crash. But I AM able to do InsertObjectNewMS Excel Worksheet and it is fine. I will just have to retype the information. Thanx for trying. -Monica "Cindy M -WordMVP-" wrote in message news:VA.0000aefb.00de3187@speedy...
