Default Backgrounds in Word

How do you create a different background for different pages within a Word
document? Whenever I remove the background from page two, it is removed from
page one also. I've tried adding breaks, checking "different first page,"
etc. I'm using MS Word for Windows (XP) 2003. Thanks!

The backgrounds are only for HTML pages.
