Default lost data on word doc

I accidently reverted back to a prior copy of a word doc before saving my
modified version. I lost all of my recent changes. Is there any way to get
back the updated version? Any temp file that was created anywhere?

Only if you have word configured to save backups - tools options save.
Or if you have not yet closed the document, in which case undo will bring it
back. If you have saved and closed Word. It is lost.

You would have had to set your system up to make the backup file. Does that
sound familiar to you? If not, no way unless that file is still open. You
could try doing multiple Undos. If you closed the file, no.
