i was working with business cards and somehow hit a button and there appeared
symbols that look like a circle with lines around it, papagraph codes, etc.
throughout he documents and also on other documents that i wasn't working in.
could someone suggest how i might remove them?

Garfield,

Thank you so much for your informitive link in replying to this post. I
spent coutless hours using the MS word help in trying to solve this problem
myself. I needed to get my cover letters out ASAP and was lost in solving
this problem. The program help made reference to using the Ctl-Shift-F8
keys.....not -8. this was very helpfull.
