Default Word freezes when using Envelope command

When I try to use the ToolsEnvelopes and Labels option in Word 2000, my
entire Word freezes up, and I have to cancel through Task Manager.
Everything else seems to be OK, and I have run the Repair facility through
Add/Remove Programs. Help!

Does the problem persist if you select a different default
printer in Start | Control Panel | Printers? If changing to
different default printer fixes the problem, then the problem is
caused by the printer driver for your normal printer... try
reinstalling the printer driver or getting an updated driver from
your printer manufacturer's website.
