Word 2007 File Size Problem
We've been noticing a problem with Word 2007 making our Word 2003 files
significanlty larger. Details... We put together a number of reports every month for our customers. Each report has been roughly 100Kb to 150Kb in file size when saved from word 2003. Opening them in Word 2007, changing a few words and replacing a graph or two (Excel graphs pasted as enhanced metafiles) then saving them again in Word 2003 format causes the file size to increase to well over 1Mb. We can no longer email our reports as a single zip file because it is now larger than what our customers firewall will permit. Any ideas? John |

Any ideas? - Edit them in Word 2003. - Send them in Word 2007 file format. If your client(s) have auto updates active for Office, then a converter has already been installed that lets them open and edit documents saved in the 2007 format. Word 2007 File Size Problem
Editing them in Word 2003 is a bit difficult since we've upgraded to 2007.
Saving them in Word 2007 format doesn't work either, they are the same size as saving in Word 2003 format. It seems that once Office 2007 is used to edit these documents, they expand to a larger file size. We think that Excel may be the culprit here. We have some charts that we copy from Excel and paste as "Enhanced Metafile" in Word. They are the same Excel files we used with Office 2003, we simply update the data and copy the new charts, but they seem to bloat the Word files tremendously.
