Out of blue, on several networked computers, random characters began
appearing in Word 2000 documents--both new and previously created documents. When this happens, the documents are permantely corrupted and the deleting normal.dot template (as several techs recommended) has not resolved the problem. Any solutions? |

No tech. worth employing would recommend deleting normal.dot, as it can lose
months worth of carefully configured settings and macros. *Rename* normal.dot to fix perceived problems in that file. It is difficult to envisage what is going on here. It could be a number of things, including virus related complications. What is the nature of the random characters? Do these machines have speech recognition software? Have you checked the display driver resolution to ensure that it set to a high level? I would start by working though the tips at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org emj wrote: Out of blue, on several networked computers, random characters began appearing in Word 2000 documents--both new and previously created documents.
