My custom AutoCorrect entries have disappeared.
I have entered well over 1000 custom AutoCorrect entries that I heavily
depend on for work. Today, my computer froze and I had to shut it down manually. After restarting it, I realized that every single one of my custom AC entries are gone. Anybody know how I could find them again? I was using Word at the time that the computer froze. |

They are stored in one or more files with an .acl extension and in
normal.dot. What makes you think that they are gone? Thank you - I will look through my .acl files to see if I can find them. Can
I import them from there or something? I know they are gone because they are not working, and when I go into the AutoCorrect formatting screen, they are not in the list anywhere. It's like it somehow was restored to default settings, but I can't figure out how. "Charles Kenyon" wrote: They are stored in one or more files with an .acl extension and in normal.dot. What language is your document in? The .acl files are language-specific.

It says English (U.S.). I assume it's the language that was applied to the
text when I created them since I have never changed that setting since I installed the program 4 years ago. "Suzanne S. My custom AutoCorrect entries have disappeared.
I was able to locate several .acl files that, under Properties, are labeled
"AutoCorrect" something-or-other. But I don't know what to do with them, and I cannot open them to read what is in them (coded, don't know what program I can use). I have begun the horribly laborious process of re-entering them. *sigh* "Suzanne S. My custom AutoCorrect entries have disappeared.
I suspect there is some explanation/remedy for this, but I don't know what
it is. You might want to see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...utocorrect.htm for a way to back up your AutoCorrect entries in case this happens again. -- Suzanne S.
