Link problem: bookmark targets hitting before header instead of on
My document is tightly structured, using a Heading 1 to start each chapter
and for nothing else. I have many links to these chapters. I convert the document to PDF for use. Some of the links end up taking the user to the end of the page before the Heading 1 used for the chapter title. How can I fix this? I had imagined there would be some way to display the automatically generated bookmark for the chapter title. When I show bookmarks, including hidden ones, it doesn't seem to show the bookmark so I can't figure what's going wrong. What about the hyperlinks in Word itself, do they bring you to the correct page? It can happen (as with other bookmarks) that their boundaries get changed inadvertently (if you click RETURN with the cursor before the first chapter of a H1 paragraph, for instance). To be on the safe side, I'd probably try deleting the H1 in question including the preceding paragraph. Update the entire TOC. Then insert what you have deleted, as text only. And restyle appropriately. Update the entire TOC again.
