AutoText is displaying squares instead of text; I noticed a previous entry
regarding same problem and the given suggestion was to turn off Field Codes,
which I did. Turning off field codes did not help with this problem; my
AutoText still displays incorrectly, i.e. Thank you, is displayed as 耀 耀

Select the document, then click F9 to refresh the field.
Did that work?

Hi yna

Can you tell us *exactly* what steps you are taking to insert your AutoText?
And, what version of Word are you using?

Hi Shauna,

I am using Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Outlook 2003; part of
Microsoft Office Edition 2003. Whether I choose any of the autotexts entries
from Menu Bar Insert Auto Text or I press enter to insert autotext entry when
typing a auto text i.e. as I begin to type "thank y" (press enter to insert)
I get the following 耀 耀 ꄀ. For thank you it displays 耀耀ꄀ and for Love, it
displays Č and so on for all autotexts categories of entries.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

Hi yna

Close Word, find normal.dot and re-name it to Oldnormal.dot. You'll find
normal.dot in the folder identified as the User Templates folder at Tools
Options File Locations. In a standard installation that's at C:\Documents
and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Make sure that
you have set Windows Explorer to "Show hidden files and folders" so you can
find it.

After you re-name normal.dot, start Word. Word will create a new normal.dot.
If that solves the problem, then you can use Tools Templates and Add-ins
Organizer to copy any customizations you've made from oldnormal.dot to the
new one.

Hope this helps.
