Default horizontal margins messed up

I have been using office for years, but now I have a problem with left and
right nmargins. It began when I opened some help rtf doc from an old program
(Word97 i think), and the margins were set to zero. Now when I open any new
doc, the margins overflow and are cut off in preview and when I print words
are cut off at the margins. Setting/saving defalt page layout with a well
margined Word 2003 doc still does not let my new docs have the correct
margins. I have read and tried all the fixes I found in here. TIA!

I* just figgered it out! I selected all text (ctrl+A) then clicked
format-paragraph and changed the stuff in there for the way i liked and
presto! Then I selected File-Page Setup and clicked the Default button, now I
think it is fixed. It's a wonder I could not fiure that out before! thanks
