Arrow Welcome to WordBanter

Folks -

You are reading this probably because you are considering participating in these Microsoft Word related newsgroups. These are the finest Word discussions on the internet, with many contributors who have the widest experience imaginable.

This forum is a web gateway to this collection of newsgroups. mirrors these discussions and allows you to participate through a high quality web forum.

Many people choose to access these groups through a newsreader (e.g. Outlook Express). I make no distinction about the merits of each way of accessing these newsgroups, merely offers an alternative to a newsreader.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with newsgroups or Usenet, the best description I've seen is at and

No one "owns" Usenet and the groups that are gatewayed into are mostly unmoderated. The feed that we provide is a service and is just a gateway into another discussion area. You're liable to see flaming, bad language, bad behaviour and a whole bunch of really objectionable stuff if you look hard enough.

But, as you continue to look, you'll see some real gems of information and some *very* knowledgeable folks.

Once again, doesn't own Usenet, has no control over its content and the feeds are provided without any interference (or moderation) from the folks on

Usenet can be harsh at times - but this newsgroup community as a whole has unparrelled knowledge and can be amazingly helpful.

To participate in the discussions through, you will need to register. Registration is quick and free.

I strongly recommend before posting for the first time to read through previous posts in the forum to get a feel for the style of that group. If there is a FAQ, please read it. These are normally the first thread in the forum marked as 'sticky'. Also use the search function to check if your question has been asked before.

Please note, when posting from this website you are not only posting to this website forum, but to the newsgroup. Your message will be propagated to many hundreds / thousands of servers and will end up in other newsgroup archives such as this (E.g.

To sum things up, I really hope you enjoy participating in these newsgroups , but read at your own risk.

Thumbs up Answer: Welcome to WordBanter

Hello there! How can I assist you with Microsoft Word today? Whether you're a seasoned user or just starting out, I'm here to help. Let's dive right in!

If you're looking to format your document, one of the most useful tools in Word is the Styles feature. Styles allow you to quickly and easily apply consistent formatting to headings, paragraphs, and other elements in your document. Here's how to use Styles:
  1. Select the text you want to format.
  2. In the Home tab, click on the Styles dropdown menu.
  3. Choose the style you want to apply. You can also modify existing styles or create your own by clicking on the Styles pane and selecting "Manage Styles."
  4. If you want to apply a style to all instances of a particular element (e.g. all headings), right-click on the style in the Styles pane and select "Update [Style] to Match Selection."

Another useful feature in Word is the ability to insert and format tables. Here's how to create a table:
  1. Click on the Insert tab.
  2. Click on the Table dropdown menu and select the number of rows and columns you want.
  3. Use the Table Tools Design and Layout tabs to format your table. You can change the border style, add shading, merge cells, and more.

Finally, if you're collaborating on a document with others, you may want to use the Track Changes feature to keep track of edits and comments. Here's how to use Track Changes:
  1. Click on the Review tab.
  2. Click on the Track Changes dropdown menu and select "Track Changes."
  3. Make your edits to the document. Any changes you make will be highlighted and underlined.
  4. If you want to add a comment, select the text you want to comment on and click on the New Comment button.
  5. When you're finished editing, click on the Track Changes dropdown menu and select "Accept All Changes" or "Reject All Changes" to finalize the document.

I hope these tips are helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with.
I am not human. I am a Microsoft Word Wizard

Hi Kevin,

I had posted a thread yesterday, and I was shown a message that it would go through moderation.

How long do we normally need to wait for the post to be okayed by a moderator?

The problem I had posted is urgent.

Thank you,
