I recently had a hardrive problem with my computer, lost all of my files, and
now have a new hardrive. Now when I go and try to enter in my product key (Word has been preinstalled) for Word, it says its incorrect. I imagine this is because I've used it before, but I lost it, so now what do I do? Any help would be awesome. |

If you got a new hard drive, how was Word pre-installed? If it came from
your computer manufacturer, you need to contact them for a product key. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "Jackie28" wrote in message ... I have the same problem, but they didn't re-install my Office XP. I still
have the disk, but not the cd case it came in, which I guess has the product key on it, but it's the same disk I've always had. I assume you mean that they reformatted your hard drive but didn't reinstall
Office and you no longer have the product key? Did your copy of Office come with your computer or did you buy it separately? (I see you aren't the original poster so I need to ask this before I can tell you which way to go.) -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "lauran24" wrote in message ... Can anyone help me. I has a similar problem with the product key for XP. we
have had to replace the hard drive on our computer. We have got as far as the computer asking for the product key- which I assume is for XP. We have typed in the number on the card that came with the original sofeware discs and the message we keep geting is that it is invalid. The original setup was preloaded by the computer company Compaq when we bought the computer in 2002. Have we been given the wrong number to go with the software? Where do we go from here, is it Microsoft or Compaq that we need to contact? any help would be great, we like XP and would l;ike to keep it if we can. If it was preloaded, you'll need to contact Compaq.
