Default Cursor is not working in word...

Hi,
I'll appreciate any help you can forward.
I use the standard office 07.
I see that early March 12 (i.e. sometime in the night), my PC was updated
with many different MS updates - some for office security.
In the morning, I noticed several errors with Word 07.
They include:
1)I can't double click an attached word document in an email (outlook 07)
and have it open automatically. (it would launch word, but the doc wouldn't
open - I had to save the doc to my PC and then I could open it - or I could
just 'preview' it in outlook to see it)
2) every time I tried to close word - it would give the error message: 'word
has stopped working - searching for the solution', and then it would restart
word. I ultimately had to click 'cancel' to stop this repetitive cycle.
3) This is the biggest concern: I can't use the mouse in the program. i.e. I
can't click within the document, and I can't click on the scroll bar on the
right. Thank goodness I remember some of the keyboard commands from years
back :-)
While I suspect it was the MS update - I am not sure.
I could try a system restore - but I also should have the security updates.
I have not installed any other programs in the recent past - the MS updates
are the only different things that I can find.
Please share any advice -this is driving me crazy!
Thanks,
Kenny

I am actually having the same exact issue with word 2007 after the update. I
am using Microsoft home and student and I have been forced to use my other
computer with word 2003 because it is actually far more useful since I can
use the cursor. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Spheric

Default Cursor is not working in word...

I have Windows Vista Business with MS Office Pro 2007. I have the same
problems. It worked just fine until one day - it may have been an update the
night before also.
