We have some old mail merge documents in Word 2003 format (we are using Word
2007), that used to work fine. Word 2003 main document is merging with Word
2003 table - now get error messages saying that Word can't find the data
source, and that there is a problem with the content of the mail merge
document.

We used to be able to merge main documents with Word tables - is this a
problem in Word 2007?

There is really no change in the mail merge functionality between Word 2003
and Word 2007. Have you tried re-attaching the data source to the mail
merge main document?

Yes, have reattached the data source again and saved; but each time we reopen
the main document we get the same problem again.
