Default Working with Access fields

I use Office 2007 and import data from Access into various fields. If I want
to e-mail a document which includes the database fields, the recipient is
unable to see those fields because the original database is not there. How
do I lock the document so that the fields cannot be updated? Hope this makes
sense. I asked the question earlier but am not sure it was clear.
Thanks
