Default Status Bar problem

Using Word 2004 (Office 2004). Word has status bar which tracks the exact
position on the page. The "AT" measures the distance in inches from the top
and "LN" tells you what line you are on. Neither of these functions are
working on my documents. Other status bar functions appear to be okay (column
location and word count). Do you have any suggestions for fixing it?
Thank you very much.

This can depend on the view you're in and whether background repagination is
enabled.

Suzanne,
Thank you very much. Your hint about the background pagination was just the
help I needed.

dbloss
