If you use References | Table of Contents | Insert Table of Contents...,
you'll get the familiar dialog that (among other things) allows you to select the number of levels. If you've used one of the TOCs from the gallery, press Alt+F9 to view the field code and edit the \o "1-3" switch to \o "1-4". -- Suzanne S. I completed the steps listed below; however, when I 'Update' the Table, Level
4 is not there. "Suzanne S. This is what appears on the 'Style' tab:
Font: Centered, Keep with next, Keep lines together, Level 4, Style: Linked, Automatically update, Hide until used, Quick Style, Priority: 10, Based on: Normal, Following style: Normal Could "Hide until used" possibly be the problem? If so, how can I change it? "Suzanne S. Did you include any level 4 text in the document? For example, did you apply
Heading 4 to at least one paragraph? Also, when you were prompted, did you remember to update the whole TOC (as opposed to just the page numbers)? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Toni" wrote in message ... "Hide until used" just has to do with whether or not the style is listed in
the Styles pane before it's actually in use. If you have text in that style in the document and your TOC field code shows "1-4," then that text (being defined as Level 4) should be showing up. -- Suzanne S.
