Open normal.dot (or normal.dotm if you are using Word 2007) as a document,
delete the text, save and close the file. To open normal.dot as a document, you can search for it in Windows; be sure to search hidden files and folders. When you find the file, right-click it and choose Open from the context menu. The problem with just deleting the text is that this will cure the problem
if the text has been saved *in* Normal.dot. If, however, another document has been saved *as* Normal.dot, then only renaming to generate a fresh copy will ensure that Normal.dot has its full complement of AutoText and whatnot. -- Suzanne S.
