Default Auto Text List not working

When I create a new auto text via Insert/Field/Links and References and so
on...everything works fine and when I right click on the field I have
created, everything is as it should be.

However the new list is not appearing on the Autotext toolbar. Others are
there e.g. salutation etc, but not the new ones I create.

What do I need to do to get the new ones to show up in the autotext toolbar?

Thanks

Lesley

I assume Word 2003 or earlier? Autotext entries are stored according the the
paragraph style that pertained when you saved the entry, so which texts are
displayed will depend on which style is at the current cursor position. Are
they listed in Insert Autotext Autotext?

Yes, Word 2003. When I went through the process of Insert/Field/Links and
References etc etc, I identified the paragraph style pertaining to the entry
I wanted as autotext.

What I am doing after that is highlighting the text without the para marker,
then insert/field/ etc at the end of which the text is shaded grey and when I
right click on the text all of the autotext entries show up but not the one I
am trying to create! And of course they are not listed in Insert Autotext
Autotext.

You create an autotext entry by selecting the proposed content then press
ALT+F3. Give it a name and click OK. Ensure that you save the template when
closing Word.
