i can't seem to move in the word options menu, meaning i cannot make any
changes, except for the first option in line, 'popular'. i can't choose any
other option! any help, please

Assuming that you are not using an expired trial version, have you activated
Word? If you have and it still isn't working, you may want to try deleting
the Data key in the registry (see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/...gmenusetc.htm).
