Default My Places in File Open Box

When I want to open a file, I am not getting the option to 'Save to My
Places' in Word 2007. I used to get this option in Word 2003. This results in
lot of time wasted in navigating through the folder tree every time I have to
open the file.

It's still there, just moved (like just about everything else in 2007).

Navigate to the folder you want. Right-click anywhere on the Places Bar, and
you'll find "Add folder name" on the context menu.
