Default What replaces the "Binder" function in Word 2003 and highher?

Hi everyone - hoping for some help on this ASAP. I am creating a living
document that contains excel spreadsheets, word docs and powerpoint slides -
these documents need to remain separate and editable so the request is that I
pull together a "master" document that can printed and the editable docs are
embedded so that any updates are automaticlly migrated to the master document
- the problem is that there is no Binder feature anymore and my file is
getting too large to work with. I could use some advice on how best to deal
with this problem. Thanks
Sharon

If you still have Binder installed, you can still use it.

Thanks Suzanne - The company I work for does not have Binder nstalled - I
need a viable alternative. This was a bit sudden - I need to deliver this doc
today and it's getting unmanageable. How do writers use Word for anything
more ambitious than the odd whitepaper - a novel or a university level
disertation would be well nigh impossible!!

There's an old saying about workers who blame their tools ...

I can assure you, novels and dissertations in Word are entirely
feasible, and very common.

OTOH, everyone, even Microsoft, acknowledges that Master Documents is
not a reliable feature. You might insert your Excel and PowerPoint
items by reference rather than by copying them into the main file.

I actually create quite complex books with Word (the latest one was more
than 600 pages, with hundreds of footnotes and illustrations).
