Currently, if you define up/down borders for a text (via direct formatting or
via style definition), those borders will extend for the entire width of the page, even if the selected text is only a few letters long. This happens for both text-level and paragraph-level styles. I think it would be very useful to be able to have text surrounded by borders above/below it and have those border only extend to its width. This could be used, for example, as a nice way of formatting figure captions. Select the text and apply a border to it (the text)

That gives you a box border. The only way to get just top and bottom (other
than an EQ field) is to use paragraph indents to make the paragraph just as wide as the text. -- Suzanne S.
