Default linking together the form fields or controls in Word

Thank you, Beth. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I hope it
helped Alicia, also. I've got people who insist on using Word for templates
and I haven't been able to locate coherent Microsoft instructions for doing
this linking.

You can use Word forms with form fields and use a cross-reference (REF
field) to repeat data typed in a field elsewhere in the document.

Here's a few steps try and see if it will meet your needs:
- Insert a Text form field (View/Toolbars/Forms)
- Double-click the form field to display its Properties
- Change the Bookmark name to something more meaningful
- Turn on 'Calculate on Exit"
- Place your cursor in the location for the duplicate data
- Go to Insert/Reference/Cross-reference
- Change the Reference type to Bookmark
- Select the Bookmark from the list and click "Insert" (note you can
leave this dialog box open and click back in the document to move your
cursor to insert another cross-reference)
- Protect the form
- Type in the form field and press Tab to exit

Result: Form field data is duplicated in the cross-references.

Do you know if there is anyway of linking together (within the same

document)
the form fields or controls that you use to make Microsoft Word

forms. I
work for an insurance agency that uses many different company forms

for the
same insured. They want to be able to fill out one master

application and it
auto fill to the sub applications either in the same document/ or

program.
We do have Excel and Access if one of these programs would be a

better
recommendation. We just don't know what would be the best solution.

Please
let me know if you can assist me in this matter or point me in the

right
direction. Thank you!
