Default Word 2007 has slowed to a crawl

I purchased a new system 18 months ago that came with Vista pre-loaded.
Shortly thereafter I purchased Office 2007 and installed that also. It worked
fine until recently when Word 2007 suddenly slowed to a crawl. It displays
text with about a 10 keystroke delay, the cursor is very slow to react to the
directional keys, and that little blue circle thing is almost always present.

I can run most software, but I don't have any ability in trouble-shooting or
repairing problems when they appear. Please Help.

We are also having this problem on about 25% of the workstations on our
network. I hope there is an answer.

I also purchased a new laptop Dec 2008 with Vista. I installed Office
Enterprise 2007 recently. I experience a severe delay whether I try to open
an existing Word document or open WORD thru the start menu.

When trying to close Word, my computer seems to be in a permanent loop so I
have to use Task Manager to end the program.

I really need HELP to solve this issue as I just started my graduate progam!
