Thanks, Graham. Actually, I figured it out ... I created a template for
technical reports, and wanted to limit the changes that could inadvertently be made to fonts, style, and required information, (similar to the IEEE template). There's an option under Styles that restricts the changes that can be made to any style in use in a document. I renamed the styles I wanted to keep "locked, " chose the option to restrict the formatting, and password protected it. I'm hoping that does the trick.
