Default Object linking, word document

I have created a single word document with links to other places in the same
word document. When other people get this document from me it is corrupted,
the links do not work.
When opened by another user the "link?" does n ot appear.
I have Vista/Office 2007

What kind of links are you referring to? Hyperlinks?
