Switch to Draft View and then from the Review tab of the Ribbon click on
Show Notes in the Footnotes section of the Ribbon and then from the pulldown at the top of the Footnotes page that will appear, select Footnote Separator and the footnote separator will appear so that you can edit it. -- Hope this helps.
