Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
I have a very long document which needs to have occasional column(s) on
random pages. The next page after every page with one or more columns on it, reverts back to a previous section (they all revert to the same section 1 footer and become page 2 - my sections/columns don't start until around page 40) I started over by completely removed all formatting that caused sections, turned on page #ing and then began adding my columns back in and had the same problem. I've followed previous posts and gone into every section on a page and made sure that the formatting for each section for the page # was set to continuous in every section and this is still not solving my page # problem. I appreciate any assistance. |

Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
Note that if you have continuous sections limited to part of a page, you
won't see their headers and footers. Temporarily insert manual page breaks so that you can see all headers and footers. You can then locate the section that restarts the page number. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "shawna" wrote: I have a very long document which needs to have occasional column(s) on random pages. Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
I've used the show/hide and gone into every section on an individual page (I
know I've hit every one because of the # of sections per page vs the number the section increased from one page footer to the next). I've checked every section on each page individually and made sure that they each are set to continuous from previous section. So I don't need to see the header/footer for each section on a page - I should just need to go into each section and set the footer to continuous from previous - which I've done. This should do the same thing as what you're asking - correct? "Stefan Blom" wrote: Note that if you have continuous sections limited to part of a page, you won't see their headers and footers. Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
Note that if you do have a section preceded and followed by a continuous
section break, and if that section is limited to part of a page, you cannot see its headers and footers, which is why the temporary page break is needed. After you've inserted the page break, you can access headers and footers in order to unlink them and/or change settings of the Page Number Format dialog box. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "shawna" wrote in message ... Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
I actually ended up finding a macro (I believe you may have written it if I
remember correctly) that was for a large document to get all the sections to be the same. That was a different scenario than mine, but it actually worked perfectly. I was trying to find the original post I found it on it to repaste it here for others searching for answers, and I can't find the right posting. Thanks for your help though. Page # errors with Column Section Breaks
Well, a macro might certainly be a quicker solution in cases such as this
one. I do recall creating a (simple) macro to turn off the linkage between sections awhile back, but I thought we were talking of the page numbering here? Anyway, I'm glad you got it sorted. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "shawna" wrote in message ...
