I have Office Home & Student 2007. I'm receiving the error message "Word
could not create the work file. Check the temporary environment", every time I open up Word 2007. Then it opens Word to a "non-commercial use" Word, and it does not allow me to save a newly created document or update an existing document. However, I can update an existing document if I start Word '07 in the "Safe Mode". I was on the phone with Microsoft Support for this problem, and they were unable to solve it after over 2 hours of trying!!! Please provide some insight on how to solve this issue. Thank you Margaret |

I can answer one question: Office Home & Student Edition will always show
"Non-commercial Use" in the title bar because that is the restriction placed on that version, and the title bar is meant to remind you of that. The fact that you can't create new documents or edit existing ones suggests that you have not activated the product and have exceeded the number of uses you get before activating. -- Suzanne S. But surely then it wouldn't work in safe mode either? Given that it works in
Safe mode, it seems likely that one of the user components is corrupt - probably the data key in the registry, or maybe the normal template or some add-in - see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Suzanne S. Yes, I wondered about that, too.
