Default Table of contents: add section to #

WD2003. I have a single doc with three parts A, B and C. I've numbered the
pages A-1, A-2, A-3, ... B-1, B-2 ... C-1, C-2 ... by adding the letter in
front of the page number field. Is it possible to do this so that A-1 etc is
picked up in the ToC?

I can't figure out how to give the number a custom Field Property, where I'm
imagining that it is analogous to setting a custom number format in Excel
where I could enter '56' in a cell but it would show as '56 kg' but perhaps
this is wrong-tree-upbarking and I'm missing something straightforward.

Thank you Suzanne, it was just what I wanted--and I wonder why I'd not
noticed that checkbox option before.
Having read the piece, I feel I must promise that the file is purely for me
and is not to be forced into an update series for a poor employee somewhere,
because I too remember all those unupdated legal books!
