Default print preview causes Word 2007 to crash - Vista

Hi,

the subject pretty much says it all.

When I choose 'print preview' the program locks up.

I ran the repair but it didn't help.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks,

Mike

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer?

No, but it's a good question!

The computer in question is a laptop, and is presently only connected to a
printer via a network.

I wanted to show something, to somebody that I'm doing a small job for
tonight, so the laptop won't be connected to a printer at all.

What should I do?

Many thanks for the quick and good reply,

Mike

Make sure that the printer *driver*is installed locally even though the
printer is on a network. Word must see a printer driver in order to format
the page. See the "Printer Problems" section of

I installed the drivers locally, and still got 'not responding'.

I found this site via the link that you gave me....

http://www.chicagotech.net/netforums...hp?p=3875#3875

And deleted the local icon and installed the Epson printer via the 'network'.

Still got the dreaded 'not responding'.

I now have Microsoft XPS Document Writer as the default printer and that
works, as does my local FoxIt printer, if I make it the default.

So I can do what I need to do this evening, thanks to you.

One would have hoped that Word 2007 would give some kind of message such as,
'no printer found' instead of 'not responding' :-(

thanks Suzanne,

Michael
