Default why does a button on task bar begin blinking

In the middle of working with a document the button on the task bar turns
orange and begins blinking. This is causing us to lose our information.

Usually the fault of the Norton Office Plug-in. See €śTitle bar flashes or
the Word program becomes unresponsive when Word is running€ť

Disable the Norton Antivirus Plug-in for Office through the NAV dialog. See
"Title Bars Flash, Word Becomes Unresponsive, or Word Cannot Close" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?*kbid=812075.
