Default Multi-Level Lists

On my boss' computer when he types a multi-level outlined list he is unable
to change the number or character and indent new lines to where he wants them
by using his tab key. Ex: If A. is the Heading and he wants the next line
to be i. instead of the B. that automatically appears once you hit enter, he
is unable to simply press tab to have the list indent to the next line
format. He can also not use the Shift + Tab keys to back out of an indented
line.
His computer is the only one in the office that does not allow this to happen?
Any suggestions? I have tried everything.

Select Tools AutoCorrect Options "AutoFormat As You Type" tab and turn on
the setting "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces".

In case of Word 2007, you will find the AutoCorrect dialog box he
Office button Word Options Proofing €“ click the "AutoCorrect Options"
button.
