Default Text Duplicates When I Hit Enter

This has been going on for a month or so, and I can't figure out what's
causing the problem. Sometimes (but not always, and I can't figure out a
pattern) when I hit enter at the end of a line, the line duplicates. I can
hit backspace or delete to get rid of it, but I'd like it to stop doing this
in the first place. Any suggestions? Thanks! Deb

Anyway, you shouldn't be hitting Enter at the end of a line, only at
the end of a paragraph; are you sure it's actually being duplicated,
rather than your screen being slow to catch up? Maybe you need a new
display driver. (Did you upgrade your software but not your hardware
recently?)

I understand about not hitting enter until the end of a paragraph. I
frequently use bullet lists, so the "end of the line" is in essence the end
of the "paragraph," albeit a one-line paragraph.

No, I've not upgraded any software recently.

I'm not sure what "slow to catch up" means; maybe that's what's happening,
because I cannot position my cursor at the end of the duplicated line (like
it isn't really there). I have to put the cursor on the next line and hit
backspace or delete, and then the whole line of duplicate text disappears.

And if you scroll off the page, or just wait a few seconds? It sounds
like your screen is responding slowly and you might need a new display
driver. You'd go to the website of the manufacturer of the monitor.
