Default Combo Box - Field Width

Hi,

I am using Word 2007. I want to increase the width of the combo box
display. I have several items that are being cut off because they are too
long (wide). I know someone said right-click on the box select properties
and then set the width.....however my properties does not mention width.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give me,
dc

Which kind of combo box are you using? There are two in Word 2007: one
that's in the top row of buttons in the Controls group of the Developer tab,
and one that's in the Legacy Tools button's dropdown.

The first of these is a content control, which is available only in a
Word-2007-format document (*.docx or *.docm). It automatically expands to
the width of the entries in the list; when you select a very long entry, it
can display the result on two lines if necessary.

The Legacy Control combo box is an ActiveX component. That's the one that
has a fixed width, which is at the bottom of the box's Properties dialog.
Or, while the document is in Design Mode, you can grab the right side of the
combo box and drag it to the width you want. No matter how wide you make it,
though, if a list entry is too long it will be truncated, both in the
dropdown part and in the result. If this is what you're using, I'd recommend
that you replace it with the equivalent content control.
