As a general rule, printers that output face-up (many inkjet printers) will
print in reverse order so that the resulting document is in the correct
order when removed from the output tray. Printers that output face-down
(many laser printers) will print in front to back order for the same reason.
There is a "Reverse print order" setting in Word (Tools | Options | Print in
Word 2003 and earlier) that will change this, and there is very likely a
setting in the printer Properties as well.
